We all go through life making friends along the way. We all enjoy these friendships, however the best thing about friendship is seeing friends over and over again. Last weekend we were able to go to Warsaw and visit with our friend Debby Sheets, who was there visiting her daughter Kelli and her family who live in Warsaw. We met the Sheets family when they moved into our neighborhood in 1986 when Kelli was 12. We went to church together and the kids went to school together, and since then have maintained a bond with the whole family. When I heard Debby was going to Warsaw to visit Kelli, I immediately planned this visit.
Craig and I purchased tickets for the 5 1/2 hour train ride from Berlin to Warsaw. We left on Saturday morning and returned on Monday. It was so good to see them waiting for us upon our arrival in Warsaw. We went to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe located right next to the train station. They had a great play area for Kelli's children, Rachel and Simon, to entertain them while waiting for our food. Then we went to Kelli's home and visited for the rest of the evening.
Sunday morning we were able to worship together at the Warsaw Church of Christ. Many European churches are struggling with low membership and there we met with a group of about 20. Nevertheless, we always look forward to meeting with a group of Christians in each city we visit. The church was a mix of Christians from Poland, America and Africa who gather together each week for a bilingual service. We will continue to pray for this body that they will reach others there in Warsaw.
Following worship, we went to Old Town and visited this restored area. We had a Polish lunch and enjoyed the Old Town area. It was a wonderful weekend of visiting and catching up and seeing Warsaw. Kelli was a marvelous tour guide and is doing so well with her family and managing her international lifestyle. I am looking forward to seeing more of her and her children. Thanks to our Lord for bringing the Sheets family into our lives many years ago. Thanks to Debby and Kelli for the wonderful time of renewing and sustaining friendship. Here are the photos.
