We made a one day trip down to Grafenwoehr to stock up our supply of American groceries and products. We do love life here in Berlin, however we also readily admit we do we are spoiled Americans.
We also took a trip to Heidelberg and attended the funeral of Mary Drehsel. Craig and I had both been friends with Mary since our freshman year at ACU. Mary and I were club sisters in the L'Amitie Social Club. She was also part of the Project Germany Missionary Team in 1969 and 1070. Mary was such an amazing lady who spent her life here in Germany after college. She and Karl were married 35 years and have 4 children and most importantly 2 grands! She developed a beautiful career at Pepperdine in Heidelberg and the students from there all came and sang at the service. I was surpirzed to see another college friend there, Janet Griffith, who has gone by the nickname GummiBaer since those Project Germany days. Here is a photo of me and Janet. When you get to the time of life we are in, it just seems that years have no meaning. Seeing friends after a gap of years just reveaals how littlie we have all changed while we have been busy living our lives and raising our families.
Now on a completely unrelated thought we rewatched the movie The Bourne Supremacy which was filmed here in Berlin right around the area where we live. Here is my photo of the bridge over the Spree River by the Friedrichstrasse Banhof where he jumped off and on to a boat.
We also we priviledged to attend the Berlin Premier of the new movie "Unknown" which was filmed here prior to our arrival in November 2009. It is really neat to see our neighborhood in these movies.
One more random thought is the new friends who invited us to dinner. Here is a photo of Marianna, Werner and Charlotte. Thanks Marianna for the wonderful meal and here is also a photo of the German Torte.
